  the wt of september 15, 2010 (kool-aid version) has two articles on unity.

  one is titled: unity identifies true worship and the other christian unity glorifies god.

  of course it is more uniformity, not true unity.

  i came across a discussion of the golden age magazine's anti-aluminum stance in a book on the history of reaction to government policy on fluoride:.

  use the "search inside" feature to find the discussion of the golden age on pages 131 and 132.. among other things it says: "unbelievably, the golden age published over 130 articles railing against aluminium cookware between 1925 and 1969".. did the society continue to publish articles against aluminum as late as 1969?

  Astonishing, and they say they don't venerate their leaders. And what about all those GB who predeceased him? No brochures? How do they rationalize this? What do they expect JWs to do with the brochure anyway? Distribute it door to door? Line their birdcages?

  The no beard or facial hair rule

  okay, something that has always been a side point but still a rather ridiculous rule is that brothers cannot "serve" if they have a beard/goatee/anything more than just a moustache.

  at least in the states, i've heard of some congregations in some countries allow this, but they are the exception?

  your experience?.

  as we have seen, jehovah used his spirit in the past to protect individuals as well as the nation of israel as a whole.

  why doesnt god protect individuals today?.

  Didn't the Israelite "generation" that disregarded Joshua and Caleb "pass away" in the 40-year trek in the wilderness?Wasn't that the intent of God's puishment? ..... does that provide some idea of what "generation" refers to in the Bible? .... hmmmmm....

  Strasbourg court declares illegal dissolving of Jehovah's Witnesses in Moscow

  the european court of human rights declared illegal on thursday a ruling by a russian court in 2004 to dissolve the moscow branch of the jehovah's witnesses.. it ordered russia to pay 70,000 euros to the movement's members.. russia's committee of salvation ngo lodged a suit demanding a halt to the activities of the jehovah's witnesses in moscow in 1995. the christian-based movement responded with a countersuit at the strasbourg court in october 2001.. in march 2004, a moscow district court dissolved the organization, which russia considers a sect, and banned its activities.

  it said the "sect" encouraged its younger members to disown their families, commit suicide and neglect their civic duties.. the strasbourg court said the moscow court's ruling lacked sufficient grounds and was "too strict a measure.".

  under the european convention on human rights, russia or the applicants have three months to appeal the ruling in the court's grand chamber.. the jehovah's witnesses, with up to seven million believers worldwide and 300,000 in russia, have already been banned in a number of former soviet republics.. the group, best known for its door-to-door evangelistic work, was founded in the united states at the end of the 19th century.

  If "new light" is a progressive ongoing process indispensible to spiritual growth, then it must follow some currently held beliefs have to be FALSE, otherwise the "new Light" process gets stopped in its tracks!!
